YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY IS YOUR CONCERN.

Ntsako Machabi (14) went missing on Thursday, 26 April

Our country, South Africa is one amongst plenty of countries which is known of high crime rates. Children missing are one of the most significant issues citizens are concerned about on daily basis. According to the figures released by the South African Police Service Missing Persons Bureau, a child goes missing every six hours in South Africa. My concern on this issue is that, what might be the cause of our children missing around our country and what is it that the government and our citizens doing to stop these kinds of issues to keep on increasing instead of decreasing?
According to my Public relations practitioner’s point of view, since in most cases of a child missing in our community has to do with some thugs kidnapping them, I think it might be significant for parents to guard their children. To add on that, here are some of the useful GUIDELINES on to how parents can keep their children safe from these thugs kidnapping their little ones.
1.      First of all, parents should not allow children to play far away from them. Thus, they should make sure that they are able to see the spot where their children are playing.

2.      If parents are not able to go somewhere and therefore requires them to send their children, they should make sure that this place is not far away from home. That is to say, parents should avoid sending children on to far places.

3.       An issue of finding someone who will lookout for your children in case you will be travelling far from home is one of the issue parents should be concerned about but my advice is, parents should find reliable people to look out for their children not just someone they don’t trust or know. Thus, people like your relatives or your neighbours might be an important guard for your children.

OUR LIVES IN DANGER IN SOUTH AFRICA

Crime is a noticeable issue in South Africa. South Africa has a shocking high rate of murders, assaults, rapes (adult, child and infant), and many other crimes associated to other countries. Most of the emigrants from South Africa state that crime was a big and major factor in their choice to leave the country. The South Africa Police Services is responsible for managing 1115 police stations across each and every province around South Africa but each and every day we wake up and hear different cases concerning crime in these different provinces in our country. This means, we might be having a plenty of these Police services all across the nation but are they really doing their best to fight this crime? If they are surely fighting crime, then why do we still have to hear about such cruel crime cases on a daily bases every time we listen to our radios, watch televisions or read newspapers and is our government responding to these kinds of cases and how?
Causes of crime in South Africa
In February 2007, the centre for the study of Violence and Reconciliation was contracted by the South Africa government to carry out a study on the nature of crime in South Africa. The study concluded that the country is exposed to high levels of violence as a result of different factors including:
Ø  The standardization of violence. On many people, Violence comes to be seen as a necessary and acceptable means of resolving many of conflicts and most males believes that coercive sexual behaviour against women is legitimate and therefore they have a right to do it.

Ø  The vulnerability of young people related to insufficient child rearing and poor youth socialisation. As a result of poverty, unbalanced living arrangements and being brought up with inconsistent and hard-hearted parenting, some South African children are exposed to risk factors which enhance the chances that they will become involved in criminality and violence.

Ø  The high levels of inequality, poverty, unemployment, social exclusion and marginalisation are also seen as another cause of crime in South Africa.

On January 03, he ordered his three workers, Mmapuru Peter Mohlako, Andries Paparona Sithole and Sello Frans Mphaka at gunpoint to gang rape his wife Ina Bonnette, and mutilated her body with objects containing pliers, nails, and screwdriver.  And again, he is further alleged to have shot his own 19 year-old son, Conrad Bonnette on this very same year. As he appeared on court, Kotze stood still in the dock wearing a pair of baggy blue jeans and a checked shirt and his co-accused covered their heads with jackets as photographers pointed cameras at them before proceedings began.

WATCH OUT FOR CRIME THIS GOOD FRIDAY

Make sure you are safe this good friday

On the 06 of April 2012, it will be that time of the year again where people get to celebrate for an occasion for Christians (Good Friday). Numerous people who are filled with the religious beliefs that Jesus Christ is the son of the Lord and that he died for our sins will be celebrating from diverse places ranking from Churches, parks, streets, as well as their homes depending on how they want to celebrate their day. This statement brings forward a concern of, as I celebrate my day, will I be safe and surely be protected wherever I will wish to travel or drive since crime seems to be a significant issue to worry about these days on this world. But, if you are still confused and puzzled and therefore can’t really have an appropriate answer on to how to stay protected this holiday, here are some of the guidelines on to how you can celebrate your day and have fun and not to mention joy over it without something to stand on your way which can distract you from enjoying this marvellous day.

1. If you are to drive to somewhere strange, somewhere you have never been before, make sure that you lock your car when you get off and never forget to take your keys with you even if you are not going far away from your car.

2. If you and your family have to leave your house with no one’s presence, make it a point that you ask for your neighbours to put an eye over it. Thus, ask for them to look at the happenings in your house and to attend to those who might come looking for you.

3. If you are to go and leave your children in the house, make sure you find someone who will look after them. Not just someone, but someone you know and trust, example, your relative. Not anyone you meet on the streets and you ask for them to come and look after for your children because you were on a hurry since that won’t guarantee the safety of your little ones.

4. If you did invite some of the people (e.g. relatives, friends) to come and celebrate the day with u by paying you a visit during the day, be careful of all the people who do come and visit to your family especially those who are not invited. Thus, do not accept strangers to enter into your house even though they bring up excuses as to why they came to you.
