POLOKWANE IN A HIGH TARGET BY CRIMINALS

Coin security logo

Coin Security  spokesperson : David Makamu

Four armed men got away with three boxes of money in a cash heist in polokwane on Monday. The robbers attacked Coin Security guards while they were climbing into a security van after picking up money in Grobler Street at about 11:00 in the morning. The men with guns held them up and took three cash boxes. The robbers opened fire on the guards but no one was injured. The men fled in a silver Audi A4 with Gauteng number plates.
By reading this part of a report, as a Public relations practitioner point of view, I can say without a doubt that Polokwane is a corrupt society.  Each and every day when we listen to a radio, watch a television, or read newspapers, we hear about such different and shocking news and instead of all this to decrease, it keeps on increasing in such a way a person can image. Point is, who are these people making Polokwane a place to be so hard to imagine and what is it that can be done to end all these cases and that is our government putting much of its effort on their strategies of fighting crime? These robbers were travelling in a silver Audi with a Gauteng number plate, meaning they may not be people from Limpopo but Gauteng.
Polokwane must start working on these kinds of issues and come up with some useful plans on to how they can stop people to undermine its authorities and again gain its respect just like old times. By doing this, people from different places in the country may stop considering it as the first priority where they can commit murders, rob people and so on. Polokwane is no longer a safe place and if it doesn’t work through this, it will end up being in danger of having many criminals residing on it just to do their crime scenes.

ANGRY LIMPOPO STUDENTS VERSUS CRUEL ROBBERS

Thursday, 03 May 2012 happened to be a day which a group of eight robbers had a BAD call at the University of Limpopo’s Mankweng campus, east of Polokwane after being attacked with several of ANGRY students.
The eight men had robbed one of the university students of a cell phone at 01:00 midnight and the suspected thieves were apprehended by the students and were severely assaulted.  About approximately 100 students beat them up with stones, sticks and other dangerous weapons. Three of the robbers escaped and were later arrested by the police outside the university campus and the other five robbers were badly injured. The students stoned an ambulance that was called to take the injured robbers to hospital, but did not injure the medics. They also broke a campus office window.

Angry students as last seen today at the University of Limpopo

How I view this issue on a Public relations practitioner point of view is that, students or people should learn and try to calm down no matter how bad they are provoked because later on, if it was not for the police who stopped them, they were supposed to be behind bars facing charges of attempted murder which was to be a bad news for their career in future. My point is I hereby making an appeal to all people to refrain from taking the law into their own hands since one bad day this might make them suffer the consequences. These students should have kept the suspects and waited for the police to come and arrest them so that the law could be applied against them than to beat them up because if they died, there was no going to be any evidence to the police on their way of investigating this case. Thus, they were somehow in some way going to be the one who were suspects at the end of the day.

YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY IS YOUR CONCERN.

Ntsako Machabi (14) went missing on Thursday, 26 April

Our country, South Africa is one amongst plenty of countries which is known of high crime rates. Children missing are one of the most significant issues citizens are concerned about on daily basis. According to the figures released by the South African Police Service Missing Persons Bureau, a child goes missing every six hours in South Africa. My concern on this issue is that, what might be the cause of our children missing around our country and what is it that the government and our citizens doing to stop these kinds of issues to keep on increasing instead of decreasing?
According to my Public relations practitioner’s point of view, since in most cases of a child missing in our community has to do with some thugs kidnapping them, I think it might be significant for parents to guard their children. To add on that, here are some of the useful GUIDELINES on to how parents can keep their children safe from these thugs kidnapping their little ones.
1.      First of all, parents should not allow children to play far away from them. Thus, they should make sure that they are able to see the spot where their children are playing.

2.      If parents are not able to go somewhere and therefore requires them to send their children, they should make sure that this place is not far away from home. That is to say, parents should avoid sending children on to far places.

3.       An issue of finding someone who will lookout for your children in case you will be travelling far from home is one of the issue parents should be concerned about but my advice is, parents should find reliable people to look out for their children not just someone they don’t trust or know. Thus, people like your relatives or your neighbours might be an important guard for your children.

OUR LIVES IN DANGER IN SOUTH AFRICA

Crime is a noticeable issue in South Africa. South Africa has a shocking high rate of murders, assaults, rapes (adult, child and infant), and many other crimes associated to other countries. Most of the emigrants from South Africa state that crime was a big and major factor in their choice to leave the country. The South Africa Police Services is responsible for managing 1115 police stations across each and every province around South Africa but each and every day we wake up and hear different cases concerning crime in these different provinces in our country. This means, we might be having a plenty of these Police services all across the nation but are they really doing their best to fight this crime? If they are surely fighting crime, then why do we still have to hear about such cruel crime cases on a daily bases every time we listen to our radios, watch televisions or read newspapers and is our government responding to these kinds of cases and how?
Causes of crime in South Africa
In February 2007, the centre for the study of Violence and Reconciliation was contracted by the South Africa government to carry out a study on the nature of crime in South Africa. The study concluded that the country is exposed to high levels of violence as a result of different factors including:
Ø  The standardization of violence. On many people, Violence comes to be seen as a necessary and acceptable means of resolving many of conflicts and most males believes that coercive sexual behaviour against women is legitimate and therefore they have a right to do it.

Ø  The vulnerability of young people related to insufficient child rearing and poor youth socialisation. As a result of poverty, unbalanced living arrangements and being brought up with inconsistent and hard-hearted parenting, some South African children are exposed to risk factors which enhance the chances that they will become involved in criminality and violence.

Ø  The high levels of inequality, poverty, unemployment, social exclusion and marginalisation are also seen as another cause of crime in South Africa.

The ‘’ Medimolle Monster’’ Johan Kotze, has not applied for bail on a court case that was heard today (30 March) at the Medimolle Magistrate’s Court. Together with his three co-accused suspects, Mmapuru Peter Mohlako, 34, Andries Paparona Sithole, 42, and Sello Frans Mphaka, 38 abandoned their bail claims. Kotze appeared on the court facing 17 charges including rape, kidnapping, murder, conspiracy to rape, and assault with intent to cause dangerous bodily damage.
Johan with his wife Ina
On January 03, he ordered his three workers, Mmapuru Peter Mohlako, Andries Paparona Sithole and Sello Frans Mphaka at gunpoint to gang rape his wife Ina Bonnette, and mutilated her body with objects containing pliers, nails, and screwdriver.  And again, he is further alleged to have shot his own 19 year-old son, Conrad Bonnette on this very same year. As he appeared on court, Kotze stood still in the dock wearing a pair of baggy blue jeans and a checked shirt and his co-accused covered their heads with jackets as photographers pointed cameras at them before proceedings began.

WATCH OUT FOR CRIME THIS GOOD FRIDAY

Make sure you are safe this good friday

On the 06 of April 2012, it will be that time of the year again where people get to celebrate for an occasion for Christians (Good Friday). Numerous people who are filled with the religious beliefs that Jesus Christ is the son of the Lord and that he died for our sins will be celebrating from diverse places ranking from Churches, parks, streets, as well as their homes depending on how they want to celebrate their day. This statement brings forward a concern of, as I celebrate my day, will I be safe and surely be protected wherever I will wish to travel or drive since crime seems to be a significant issue to worry about these days on this world. But, if you are still confused and puzzled and therefore can’t really have an appropriate answer on to how to stay protected this holiday, here are some of the guidelines on to how you can celebrate your day and have fun and not to mention joy over it without something to stand on your way which can distract you from enjoying this marvellous day.

1. If you are to drive to somewhere strange, somewhere you have never been before, make sure that you lock your car when you get off and never forget to take your keys with you even if you are not going far away from your car.

2. If you and your family have to leave your house with no one’s presence, make it a point that you ask for your neighbours to put an eye over it. Thus, ask for them to look at the happenings in your house and to attend to those who might come looking for you.

3. If you are to go and leave your children in the house, make sure you find someone who will look after them. Not just someone, but someone you know and trust, example, your relative. Not anyone you meet on the streets and you ask for them to come and look after for your children because you were on a hurry since that won’t guarantee the safety of your little ones.

4. If you did invite some of the people (e.g. relatives, friends) to come and celebrate the day with u by paying you a visit during the day, be careful of all the people who do come and visit to your family especially those who are not invited. Thus, do not accept strangers to enter into your house even though they bring up excuses as to why they came to you.

REASONS TO VISIT SOUTH AFRICA

You will NOT regret visiting SA

Cape Town is the place to be.

On 2006, South Africa was ranked by the travel experts to be one of the top tourist destinations in the world.  The issue about crime in South Africa is a complex one, and every year people are choosing South Africa as a place where they can spend their vacations. Often, the first thing we hear from travelers is I would love to go to South Africa but what about the crime? Yes, South Africa does have a high crime rate,  but the depressing news you hear about crime in South Africa is only part of the picture. However, if you are interested in visiting South Africa, you have taken the right step because South Africa is one of the world’s premier destinations and that you will not be  disappointed in your choice to visit the vibrant county.

Here are some reasons of why you should visit South Africa:

Of all the African countries, South Africa is the most modern- That is to say, South Africa has well developed infrastructure, cities like Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg have the kinds of services, entertainment, restaurants and offerings you would expect to find in European cities
There are no language barriers in South Africa since nearly everybody speaks English- This is important. This country has eleven official languages, one of which is English. This language is spoken by nearly everybody. It is easy to do anything in this country from talking to a local, to ordering food in a restaurant, to asking somebody for directions. If you speak English, you will have no communication problems.
